We're back to "destination web" after 2 decades of "distribution web" (email, streams, then email again)... web3-web1 rhyming is very interesting. The notification flow is too much volume for email, and too much personalization for feed streams. The aggregation model has broken.

the destinations are hyperlocal social hubs in the cozyweb rather than "websites" but still, it's destination. You have to remember to go there.

Once you're in there, the notifications flow, internal messaging, and custom local feed/stream works fine. But it's attention flow from global to local context that's hard to architect. I have to remember to switch from checking WhatsApp groups to Discords.

Where email notification mechanisms exist, they are either uselessly broad, or require constant tweaking of extremely fine-grained settings. I generally just turn them all off. On-site notifications also have brute force mutes, but no good way to easily curate.
