1/ Want to become more effective at animal protection? Start thinking of it as a type of self-directed work, where you don't have a boss. It's up to you to figure out what's important and steadily make progress.
2/ One reason the animal protection community is overrun with gatekeepers and vegan police is that that "work" is easy. People without skills and drive hang out on Internet forums and Twitter, eager to get offended by pragmatists.
3/ By contrast, people who are good at animal protection cultivate many of the same skills you'd need to successfully run a small a business. You always need to look for the most important opportunities and constantly execute on them.
recommended David Allen's cult productivity book Getting Things Done when it came out around 2001. It's one of those books I can't imagine not having read. HUGELY boosted my output.
