I need a second "working slouched out on the couch" small, light laptop I think. MBP 16" is too big heavy for anything except docked or proper work surface/armchair use, iPad Pro is lousy for typing on a couch since attached keyboards need a surface.

I guess I could buy the smallest, cheapest Macbook Air or maybe an equivalent chromebook?

Actually... is there an actually good iPad Pro keyboard case/folio thingie that attaches sturdily enough to use in awkward positions like lounged out on a couch? Last time I had the magnetic "magic" case it was really flimsy, and the other folio thing I had kinda cracked.

Either an iPad Pro with a sturdily attachable keyboard, or a macbook air with touch screen would do the trick. I think Microsoft Surface actually cracked this form factor properly but then it's a microsoft environment.

the ipad pro & keyboard case is really nice, but surprisingly heavy.
i recently got a new m1 air and if you're into osx, it's a nice enough package.
otherwise, i love the xps13 (first class support with linux, too)

MacBook Air is definitely the way to go, the iPad Pro + keeb is too top heavy
And the MBA is lighter and thinner than the iPad Pro setup anyway.

+1 Microsoft Surface Laptop latest rev without the fuzzy palmrest. Can pry it from my cold, dead hands. Never planning to buy anything else.
