Replying to
Craigslist ate classified advertising (basically kneecapping print media). I think posters of classified ads in the days of print were getting enough value to continue at that price, but a zero-price option was obviously preferred.

The Internet was a new continent, land risen from the waves. For a few decades, the forest canopy was open, and growth was a matter of effective use of sunlight, water, and nutrients. Now the canopy is closing. Growth increasingly means competing in the shade of the overstory.
