I've installed and uninstalled anaconda a couple of times now... the package update model seems to weirdly break the install unless you are very careful... is there a trick to keeping a stable environment going?

Do you use anaconda for anything other than package management for a Python project? venv has always been cleaner for me

I am failing to even get started and am thinking of just giving up on it and using google collab instead

I've been vaguely informed that anaconda is an environment similar to matlab, and within it, I tried using spyder because it looks more like the matlab model than jupyter, but it seems like a pain

Haven't used spyder myself. Nor have I ever achieved the blissful debugging/graphing of the matlab IDE with any Python tool.
But if your goal is to have things *just work* and not worry about the environment, Google Colab is pretty awesome. GPU access is a nice cherry on top
