Wrongnesses has become increasingly reproducible while science becomes increasingly irreproducible 🤣 If you’re wrong today you should try to be wrong in a consistent way next year. The mooks reward consistency over correctness.

Something genuinely fascinating going on here. In general, both consistency and correctness are things you need to monitor in the social evolution of a material-facts memeplex, but under stress, people would rather maintain consistency than correctness.

Holding multiple true ideas in your head that do not form a coherent grand model is incredibly stressful, especially to hedgehogs. One big fundamentally wrong paradigm that is internally consistent 90% consistent is preferable to a pile of true pre-paradigmatic rubble.

Incredibly unfair thread IMO. Not only has Leonhardt been about as good as one could reasonably be in this mess, but he's been very frank about his mistakes and things that directly contradicted his stated expectations. And how many of those 2200 a day are vaccinated or boosted?
