If you get lucky with one project, but attribute it too much to skill, you’ll end up picking the next project to be way too complex because you’ll have developed an inflated sense of your abilities

The “dumber” part is pretty easy. It’s the “luckier” part that’s hard.

Talked with a therapist once that worked with a lot of founders.
They said was fairly common to have some founder that had big-ish exit in 20s/early 30s basically run through all their money on new business/investing and be broker than their salary/corporate friends at 45/50.

Generally said people that had a big flop or two then had a big success tended to be smarter about it and hold enough back to recognize they might not be able to do it again.
