Finally coming in for landing approach on a far-too-full year despite saying no to almost everything new 😖😵‍💫😐

Didn’t actually accomplish much though. Just tons of invisible life refactoring. Not even a single memorable bit of writing.

Interesting to see what dropped the most. Cut myself out of almost all DM and small group conversations except for a handful. The cozyweb is way overrated. Prefer open or semi-open (Discord) public web. Messaging is for 90% for transactional comms.

I barely ever respond to random DMs, texts, and emails these days that are not related to specific work-like chores or family stuff. My private 1:1 energy is super limited now, and 1:1-synchronous is even more so.
This is mostly me, not other people. I really don’t have much to say to most people 1:1 that can’t be said publicly. And most things people seem to want to say to be in private doesn’t seem to particularly require privacy.

This but unironically and especially as it applies to me. If I have something worthwhile to say I publish it. So I’m mostly duller in private than public. Very premium mediocre. 🤣

"Why should I talk to people? If they had something worthwhile, wouldn't they have published it?"

I’ve felt this way as well since the beginning of ‘20 and my inbound is probably an insignificant fraction compared to yours. I’ve found it difficult for me to not feel bad about it as well but starting to get over that a little bit.

We've got different head spaces but to me this boils down to a sense of jadedness & opportunity costs approaching the vent horizon. For you it's lacking desire for personal connections, for me it's that I can only tolerate <20 hours of entertainment & videogames a year.
