Why is this hard. NFTing your own work = your choice. And depending on how it’s set up you get royalties from resales too btw. NFTing someone else’s work without permission = fraud. Mitigating fixes are emerging, like verifying identity before minting on good platforms.

NFTs offer some of that in a new form, yes, but I mean if you want those things maybe just go after them? If you want to be in MoMA or Venice Biennielle or a profile in NYT, do the appropriate things for that. Don’t do NFTs. Not sure what the conflict is here.

Not sure who is saying that or why, but it’s true to some degree. It just may jor be recognition in traditional art crowd. But if validation by techie metaverse fringe crowd is worth something (it is to me), NFTs can provide some. Mirror.xyz is a nice example.

These complaints just sound confused to me. It’s like “video games don’t provide exercise like outdoor physical sports.” Umm ok, so if you want exercise go play soccer. If you want what video games *do* provide, play them. Puzzling why NFTs are criticized for this.

I’m trying to be charitable, but my cynical, skeptical mind is concluding that people with default far-left hostility to all things crypto based on sketchy climate arguments are making confused criticisms without actually trying out the tech.

There IS one real tension: the attention economy for art is a zer-sum game. The more attention NFT-artists get, the less non-NFT artists get. Tough. Make better art for your side.

Sorry you think I’m lecturing. Only trying to convey that I’m not seeing this monolithic artistic community response you seem to be representing OR a monolithic claim of benefits anyone is marketing.
