Nice AR app idea. What do piano learning aspirants think? Would you want to learn this way?

I spent the last week building an AR app for the Oculus Quest to help learn the piano in the style of Guitar Hero. Work-in-progress but definitely playable enough to start learning songs. If anyone with a Quest 2 and a midi keyboard wants to test it out, DM me

I love it, the reduced context switching is really helpful. Wonder why chose the Quest for this though, since the external camera view is super grainy. Was it because it is widely available? I'd love to try it out

I have just started leaning the bass. There is a huge difference in my ability to play along to a video with the notes coming at me, vs. playing along with a backing track with no visual indicators. One is much harder and rewarding

Looks fun, but seems unlikely that this is a realistic path to proficiency for (m)any people. Rhythm games are *superb* for developing certain musical skills. But that set of skills is quite different from the set a pianist develops.

Most piano teachers, including mine, would tell you to not even label the keys with notes, as it does not help you learn muscle memory.

Interesting concept but for classical piano dynamics, muscle memory and fingering tricks matter a lot so progress will stop after a point with AR training only

Training wheels. If it gets you going enough to let you enjoy the experience and want to take them off, then great. Still, no amount of time with the training wheels will save you from the need to push through a few tumbles and skinned knees when you take them off.
