Jeez finally took a few minutes to take a look, and this praxis thing is like the exact opposite of my kind of scene. It’s an antiscene praxissociety.com/content/introd

Blurb is a string of vaguely reactionary-trad-bronze-age larp tropes… aesthetics-first, sincerity, re-enchantment...

I’ll give it the benefit of doubt, but at this point I’m pretty much all-in on non-Thielean futures.

The way I understand it, Praxis works kinda like let’s plant a flag, bring in the most exciting people, and see what emerges. Admission is mostly based on vibe. There’s no dogma or ideology that you need to subscribe to, and all the folks so far are super impressive.

I know classical imagery comes with certain baggage, but it’s the easiest way to say “we stand for life, beauty, and sacred things”. Not everyone can communicate this message as skillfully as , but I got the batsignal and so did some of my Twitter heroes.

I don’t care about Peter Thiel at all, I care about the coolest group of people I ever had a chance to work together with. So far there’s much more CEOs than moms, but everyone understands you need both in a healthy society.

I totally agree current messaging is aimed at a very specific group of people (mostly young men in search for a heroic quest), and building a city for those only would be doomed to fail. But Praxis has potential to be much more than this.

Vibes are ideology! A most potent form. And where money comes from matters. As does the filtering effect of signals and aesthetics. I’m sure you all find each other to be cool and impressive people. All self-selected groups do. Kinda irrelevant to what I’m reacting to.

Yeah it’s pretty unfortunate that standing for beauty does have a filtering effect at all, I never thought this would be the case until I started exploring it. If I do my job right, one day it will be the most normie thing on earth. Till then, gotta work with what we have.

It’s not “unfortunate” it’s a fundamental feature!
