What happened to clubhouse? How come I don’t hear about it anymore? 🤔

All the klout chasers have gone to Twitter spaces and Clubhouse is now quaint and weird again.

The content took a nosedive right when they launched the Android client. Not sure if it was really due to that though. At the time the moderating styles were becoming too formalized and it was kinda repetitive.

Imo its a very difficult medium for general purpose use.
Huge waste of attention 99% of the time, had no good filter/recommendations.

Like how many people are capable of running an hour-long show, in realtime (no editing), with lots of unvetted guests trying to hog the mic, many with spotty connections, and have the result be enjoyable to listeners who have attention span of goldfish?
A nearly impossible ask.

Clubhouse is podcast improv.
All the long rambly nonsense of podcasts, with none of the editing, organization, or syndication.

i don’t have an answer but my personal experience: both the app and the rooms felt like a constant hard sell, and it was somehow more linkedin than linked in.

My theory: I finally got an invite on 2/5/21
As soon as I joined up, the content crashed from conversations with muckity-mucks to the pure muck of motivational speaking shills
