Foundation
Dune
Wheel of Time
Sandman
Cowboy Bebop apparently (?!)
Some sort of tipping point reached in adaptation techniques?

I guess Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams remain too hard to adapt. Didn’t like any of the recent attempts with their stuff.

I enjoyed Dune and have heard Foundation is great. Jury’s out on the others. TBH the wheel of time trailer did not look great to me.

It’s an arms race as traditional studios now have to compete with tech startups in the Balkanizing streaming subscription landscape
and yeah, Game of Thrones was the vanguard. now it’s a race to dig up “mature genre stories with built in audiences and potentially 6-8 seasons”

every service has to pop out enough of every genre to maintain subscribers; broad enough appeal of these properties that the economics makes sense now
