okay financial speculation is fun and dandy but i wish we could build some more key management tools now that everyone has a private key they take care of. like signal should let you be able to set your identity key (that signs the ephemeral key exchanges) to an ethereum address

nah i dont think it should because it's questionable where that should exist. on chain chat messaging sounds like a terrible idea lol

yeah but i dont think onchain stuff is good at all for messaging infrastructure. it's better for record keeping and identity registration, terrible for fast, private conversation

Should or won’t? I think worse-is-better will apply and it will happen. Long bet. By 2025 primary transactional (not custodial) wallets will have merged with messaging. Loser buys coffee.

maybe, i think there is some work that needs to be done since i think building an entire digital identity that hinges on the security of a single keypair is a little too fragile for basically everyone in the world

yeah i think one of the major flaws of the current internet is that for the most part a single email address is used for authentication/credentials and for general public communication. huge hole that's really hard to patch up

Don’t disagree with that. I just think that’s precisely why it will be reproduced. The convenience factor will be overwhelming. Phones already ate credit cards and hotel card keys. Last hotel I stayed at offered app-based door unlocking.
