SFUSD jukes the stats by combining Algebra 2 and Precalculus and calling it "advanced math" when it fails to qualify for basic University of California recognition and is missing key concepts How can a child study STEM without advanced math? SFUSD is failing public school kids.

to me what is the most egregious thing about this math conversation is calling the compression class precalculus (which is advanced math) when it isn't. It is missing key content from the standards. A district AP Calc AB teacher will mitigate for what is missing because they know

I care about this because I was that public school kid in the SF Bay Area. Advanced math and AP Calculus by senior year let me learn to code, build companies, and now help create companies. It's material to our ability to create things and solve problems as a society.

This is why is going to pass, and why common sense leaders like are coming over The school board acts like politics (and moving up in SF politics like did) matters more than kids being able to get a good education

UC doesn't recognize this class as either advanced math or precalculus and all the "oh don't worry you're prepared" gaslighting doesn't change this.

This is just one of MANY examples of SFUSD's politically motivated war on advanced math Removing Algebra from middle schools remains the big lie, and it's a part of a broader effort to dismantle access to advanced studies in public schools

SFUSD's Elizabeth Hull Barnes claims they have data proving the Math Framework's success. We've filed multiple California Public Records Act Requests. Read our report to see what we found. We would welcome more clarity from the district. bit.ly/sfusd_math
