I think the “right” answer is likely 3D crypto punks or bored apes type artifacts…. Provably unique but not necessarily tied to your biometric uniqueness.
Though using biometrics to generate unique avatars through a crypto generation function would be great

I’ve always done the stock-approximation thing. The idea of performing a fantasy persona leaves me strangely meh. I think I went to exactly 2 costume things as a kid. Once as a clown, once as a pirate. Didn’t really get the appeal.

Tech Twitter is going to massively bias you towards gaming-like pure fantasy fulfillment I think, but I also think that’s by far the coolest thing that can be done anyway

I feel like the body portion character creation as a problem is pretty solved by RPGs. There are improvements that could be made, but they're mostly failures of imagination, not technology. If you push blend shapes and animation retargeting to their limits, anything is possible.
