But yeah the architect who resigned is right. This is horrible. And it reinforces the already poor opinion I had of mungerism as a religion.

The right place to build this is in Omaha, for all the pilgrims who travel for a glimpse of munger and buffet at the berkeshire hathaway annual thingie. All architects, not just amateur ones like munger, should be forced to live in buildings they design for a while.

There has to be a word for "philanthropy" that's really this kind of meddlesome power-tripping with no input from the people supposedly being "helped."

My dorm in college was old and kinda crappy, but it was more considerately designed than this. Every room had a window and if you stepped out, the open hallway looked out over a courtyard. I've been in this sort of horrifying building. It's... not pleasant.

I know nothing about Charlie Munger's UCSB plan, but it appears that he *already* funded a dorm with this design at U Michigan. The building seems to be rated 8.8/10 by residents, and that appears to be the highest rating of any campus apartments. veryapt.com/Apartments-L76

I guess if it were really cheap many would opt in for cost reasons. Maybe serious extroverts might choose it for common areas. Open plan dorm.
