We at times underestimate the chain reaction of emigration. When only one of your friends has left, it’s barely noticeable. When all of them have left or are leaving? Then well it’s a matter of time until you pack your bags. Living in a place where everyone wants out isn’t fun.

It’s this migration chain effect that’s currently running wild through the Nigerian upper middle class. But yet it also impacts other places, like stagnant industrial American cities, inner city ghettos, and extremely old Levittown style suburbs.

Canada/US/UK/Ghana for the broader West African professional class, in terms of America definite migration from a corner of central Connecticut I once lived in to NYC + Boston since Connecticut is boring.

Ghana in terms of West Africa is seen as the golden country for very stable democratic transitions + a healthily growing economy and a very fun capital city. If it was in Asia I’d classify it as somewhere between Thailand and Laos in life quality.
