This is (sort of) why pale yellow (and brown and maroon) was ubiquitous in shirts in the 70s: PET (polyester) was all yellowish (instead of white), so the only colors that were used were those that incorporated that pale yellow into the overall color blend.

I know!! The whole Patagonia color palette was designed around this yellowing so that they could use the cool new future-material…polyester!
