Has military hardware been affected by supply chain stuff? Do they use TSMC made chips for like tanks and things?

There’s an IBM factory in Essex junction, Vermont that makes a lot of (shitty?) CPUs for high security applications for this reason. It’s like a factory town. But weirdly it’s now owned by a Abu Dhabi company named GlobalFounderies. It’s complicated

I might be conflating issues hope I don’t get nerdsniped but I think the above is interesting. Basically I think that many military applications use basically outdated but heavily optimized stacks of hardware and software that are pretty orthogonal to consumer chips

I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case, but it’s hard to sustain most basic businesses on domestic military demand anymore
