Web3 is like the Tea Party and Occupy of startups. There’s a revolutionary fervor that goes beyond just wanting to win elections/markets.
In both cases the goal is to install a new ideology that is hostile to the incumbents’ game rules.
Web3, AI, metaverse... all the post-weirding tech booms are just... weird. They are intrinsically harder to grok than previous generations. There's no good way to ELI5 any of them.
This growing schism has been obscured by the fact that it all gets clubbed under “tech” and the techlash is a shared enemy. But long term the schism will shape events more. It’s like how if you “hate politics” you might miss how the fringe movements hate traditional parties.
