Nothing quite as satisfying as a good avocado-tomato salad. It’s a 100% ingredients, 0% cooking skill salad. All those people who claim they can’t cook I suspect just haven’t learned to shop for good ingredients. Cooking is the easy part and in many cases not I-even required.

I was the inverse
I thought I “hated” ingredients
until I had a major breakthrough:
“Ooooooh, I just need to learn how to cook”
Turns out I only hated ingredients
because I didn’t like how they
were handled/prepared
* raw onions
* bell peppers
* most vegetables actually

Raw onions are an acquired taste and only work with some things. Raw bell peppers is just a bad idea, they’re best cooked.

I learned from getting dissapointed. There were some restaurant foods that were inedible to me. Eventually I got old enough to triangulate the ingredients

Raw onions are a taste I've acquired. Possibly from eating green onions fresh from the garden with my grandmother, and rubbing them on plate with salt on it in between each bite.

👌 green onions
✋ raw onions
I got fish-tacos from a reputable place in San Diego & wondered how they messed it up so badly. I even gave them a 2nd chance only to have the same unusually-upsetting experience (& I ~never get upset)
Turns out it was little bits of raw onion

Grew up eating peppers straight off the plant, in season.
The tough waxy skin of supermarket stock can be annoying.
