I can’t be sure, but I don’t think I was always aphantasiac. I seem to remember a time decades ago when I had normal visualizations. Then the Cartesian theater projector went kaput. Might be a Windows device driver issue. But hey don’t question changes that seem overall positive.

I actually watched a mini doc which showed that aphantasic people have an easier time moving on from painful and traumatic experiences because they are less plagued by vivid imaginings of them.

Our inner lives and dreams are so vivid and satisfying that it's impossible to recreate them in real life, so why bother trying? So, aphantasiacs are at an advantage I think creatively.

For some, aphantasia is liberating. For others, they feel a sense of loss because they can't re-experience moments in their life. There are pros and cons to each side of the spectrum.
