Does the core example in this actually track? Is the supply of rideshare today less than that of cabs before rideshare? No numbers cited here. I don’t buy it. Cabs used to be easy in big downtowns but very painful elsewhere.

I remember trying to call a taxi in SF in 1-2 BUL (before Uber/Lyft). When you were lucky you got an expensive cab in 30 minutes, in periods of high demand they wouldn’t show up at all. And good luck hailing one except downtown at hotels. Very glad to live ARS (anno ride share).

The example was in one market (DC). I don’t think you can generalize his example to ALL cities for him and then claim ‘eh, don’t buy it’ honestly. Sounds like you have a prior bias and don’t WANT to believe Uber etc might be bad for the cab marketplace in DC.
