Many people are suggesting ‘walk’ itself as the answer, but this isn’t true for me at least. A physical walk is mentally like sitting around on a couch. My mind doesn’t really move unless I give it something specific to do. Cooking is a balanced mental+physical activity for me.

Hm, I think there are multiple reasons someone might take a walk which may be resulting in those responses. Is taking a walk in service of exercising the body, or clearing the mind? If the latter, "the mental equivalent of taking a walk" would be taking a walk, yeah?

The mind evolved in tandem with walking, so there’s a biological relationship between the activity and the process. People walk to think because that’s how our mind was designed.
