Things are easiest to parody and satirize when they are just past peak, having decisively overcome rivals, but short of baroque overdevelopment and showing cracks of impending implosion. Communism in the 50s, Capitalism in the 80s, tech in the 10s.

Not many things are in an ideal satirizable state rn. Crypto is too young (you can mock it but not properly satirize since it hasn’t won anything), tech is too old. Nothing is coming off a big success and in need of taking down a peg or two.

This is why I’m not happy with what culture has to offer me rn. My life posture is default satirical. I can do earnest or polyannish or solemn for brief periods but if I can’t get back to satire I’m not happy. Rick and Morty is life support and kinda disappointed this season.

Oh yeah, I liked SNLs takedown of Mare of Easttown. But shows parodying shows is a bit weak. Shows you can’t find anything in real life to parody.

They haven’t really won though. Just filled a vacuum. Plus you can’t easily satirize anything Islamic without inviting death fatwas down on yourself.

Crypto is being lamponed by the likes of Taleb, Roubini and others who see Bitcoin's emergence as the only asset humanity created which cannot be destroyed. Multiple battles being won and it is not interested in winning the war, though it clearly will.

You don't think Woke is in that position? Or is that a
"Treason never prosper
what's the reason
for if it prosper
none dare call it treason"
sort of thing, like your 50s parodying communism but inside the USSR?
