I seem to have symmetric recovery needs. If I work an hour I need an hour to unwind. 4 hours on, 4 hours to unwind. 1 day work, 1 day to unwind, 2 days on, 2 days to unwind. The pattern breaks around 5 days, where recovery is 2 days (and not just because of weekends)

But I can’t do multiple weeks in a row “on” with a 5-2 cycle. Every 3-4 weeks I need a whole week off. Every few months, I need a whole month almost off.
If I were the optimizing type (I’m not) I’d figure out the max output duty cycle based on efficient recovery sweet spots.

Don’t need to detect and decide. I’m not motivated enough to need that. I just run out of gas and stop. Restart when mood hits or hard forcing function like paid work kicks in.

I ask because I don't usually run out of gas. The suffering increases, but the energy remains.
But I heard that is not sustainable.
