Color I suppose, since it’s more vivid and stereotypically trippy, but there’s actually no strong cues besides dude breaking into that side. Could argue the other way as well… transcendence = set aside maya and see world as it is or something
Really surprising and interesting that that is ambiguous for you! Yes, this depicts the Platonic scheme in which the Really Real World is Elsewhere and we life in Fake Nogood World, but you can somehow “transcend” Fake World to see The Ultimate Truth. Yucch.
Not really. They’re seeing visual symmetries in either symbol strings that are morphing through rewrites, or embodied visualizations on paper/screen/board. Or degraded memories thereof. I agree math has an objective quality that’s neither matter nor mind, but it’s not platonic.
This became really clear after computers and the challenge of doing math (especially symbolic math) in silicon clarified what we were really doing. Brouwer’s intuitionism is an early “hard” version of this position. https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/intuitionism/…
I don’t go as far as rejecting the excluded middle, reductio ad absurdum, the ordinary continuum, etc. But they’re definitely questionable things. And it’s a good alternative to Platonism (ironic that the server this is on is named “Plato”)
