Wonder at what tipping point people will start concluding places like New Orleans are not worth the trouble and start abandoning it. Is there a list of cities in order of likely abandonment/depopulation in the face of increasing extreme weather?

I was going to suggest actuarial changes would drive it, but I think that’s wrong. Seems like it’s basically the sentiment of permanence. Once that’s gone, then any trigger event might do it.

There have been proposals for something like a blockchain based management of retreats uphill... real estate tokens that accommodate the changing topography somehow. Might actually work. Actuarial as in defensive insurance can only react, but this could potentially be proactive

It’s still pretty cheap to relocate wholesale though—at least on a relative basis to new construction. Unless there is unique physical industry in these locations, it seems like they’ll just decompose.
