Trying to build a rover is stress testing how much I actually retain of engineering knowledge supposedly acquired between 1993-2007 (the last did anything technical until 2020). The state ranges from “100% lost” to “rotten and falling apart” to “rusty but serviceable”

The rot goes deep. There’s bits of high-school calculus I appear to have forgotten. The stuff that’s stayed on the math side is mostly basic geometry, linear algebra, non-tricky ODEs. Physics past basic Newtonian is gone. Forgotten Lagrangians.

Not sure if it’s true but I like to think nothing learned is ever fully forgotten. It’s all lurking in there, lying in wait.
