Feels like tech backlash 2.0 is starting up, a qualitatively different line of attack/critique that features a different kind of critic launching a different variety of hostile attack 🤔 This isn't the Morozov/Roose type attacks.

that's just infighting... the orig thing that put him on the map, the ugly hatchet job on O'Reilly etc... he's smart and occasionally drops good insights, but his anti-tech motives are clear, even if alloyed with better ones

hmm... I think it did what it set out to do. It was instrumental in driving the first wave of regulation including GDPR, fueling the "FB did it" narrative of 2016 etc. It was just kinda sophomoric and got lucky in having an impact at all. It's now out of its depth.

I think Morozov was much more astute than he is given credit for here, especially when viewed by those outside tech. Also: the “FB did it” narrative was media drivel compared to half the motivations behind GDPR
