Also, language of a court (to me)
A) does not imply sovereignty (Dukes under Kings)
B) does imply living in a shared physical environment where those with resources subsidize βBig If Trueβ cultural and intellectual endeavors.

I'm suggesting you take a hard look at the consequences of the apparently cosmetic choice to use such language and mental models. Who does it attract? Who does it turn off. What doors open? What doors close?
In case it's not clear, it personally turns me off quite strongly.

My guiding light (especially of late) is βhave funβ
My hope/expectation is this by holding this frame weβll be able to answer the hard questions that in the end matter more than whether users like my aesthetics

Simple advice for founders.
Realize everything's going to work itself out and have fun because when you're having fun, you can make much better decisions and when you can make better decisions, you can grow your startup a lot faster.
Half the gig is mental. Stay positive.

"Having fun" is not usually a spectator sport. When you're a founder of a high-visibility "It" company, it's easy to forget that everything you do is not just an interaction with the people immediately around you, but also a performance being watched by 100x as many.

fwiw, by my inventory, the cultiest companies tend to be b2b, sales-driven ones... with a natural low-visibility for what's going on inside
being visibly this way on a large consumer scale is... signing up for a new kind of game

Insanity is doing same thing and expecting different results.
Part of problem weβre trying to solve relates to the trust crisis.
For now Iβd rather be publicly be the weirdo I am and risk turning off some good people who would make great allies than put on a mask of propriety

The risk of public accountability is you have to back it up with results
I could put more energy and attention into trying to manage my public image, but that energy and attention has to be diverted from somewhere - IF that interferes w results itβs a bad deal.

I'm not suggesting you manage the perceptions of your behaviors. I'm suggesting you examine the behaviors themselves, and make sure you have, in fact, chosen them, taking into account all consequences (not just perceptions)

Iβm surprised the musing reached your feed (most deeply nested replies donβt afaik), but I do think that if I DID want to hire for this role, Company Doctor title would bring a completely diff set of candidates, imply very diff responsibilities and qualifications to what I want.
