By 1920 or so, the 19th century had come to seem as relatively regressive as the 20th century had by 2020. Feeling modern and “with it” is a fleeting thing. Half life of a few decades. Even if you die on the cultural bleeding edge the memory of you will seem regressive in 50y.

Basically everybody is either meme-mummified into a caricature or canceled within a century or so of their death if they’re remembered at all, and if they’re remembered as part of a historical people they’re canceled en masse.

Perhaps the interesting thing to do is own and represent whatever your era will eventually come to represent in the historical imagination. I’m kinda happy to represent 1974-20xx in whatever cartoon the 22nd century makes up about us.

my goal is that future generations take the improvements I brought about for granted and can’t imagine it being any other way
a side effect for this is they’re gonna judge harshly me from before these improvements, but who would care about such stuff
