Watching a hilariously bad low-budget/B-list female version of John Wick, starring a horribly miscast Karen Gillan, (Amy Pond on Doctor Who). She’s fundamentally a comedian. I thought it was satire at first. But no, it’s unintended camp.

There’s weirdly framed shots peppered throughout, like the director is trying to do Coen brothers or Wes Anderson type visual feel, but it’s too inconsistent to work.

This is intriguingly bad. One promising high-concept action scene has her partially paralyzed by a drug fighting 3 bad guys also crippled in various ways. But really poor choreography and execution ruined it.

Ok this next bit is not bad. Co-driving a car with a little girl in a parking lot, escaping goons chasing in other cars. Interesting way to do a chase based on trick hide-and-seek moves rather than speed. But again, ambition of concept far exceeds quality of execution.

Gillan was also Gamora’s cyborg sister in the Marvels. So action isn’t entirely foreign to her. A *lot* of makeup for that one, though.

Funny how Karen Gillan has also started in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji - playing action roles - but you’ve boxed her into her debut role. Who says she’s ‘fundamentally’ a comedian? Surely actors are supposed to grow bigger than the roles that were available to them first?
