Entire generations’ sense of the world is shaped by shifting patterns of global travel accessibility. Especially for me because the older I get the less willing I am to jump through visa hoops to travel. When I was younger I was more willing.

Countries I first traveled to after getting a US passport that I likely wouldn’t have otherwise if I’d had to get a visa on an Indian passport… Chile, Colombia, Panama, Thailand, Korea, Sweden, UK

I backpacked Western Europe on schengan as a grad student in 1998. But skipped UK at the time, because extra visa. Schengan is a very nice deal. Like 26 countries for 1 visa. Road plus rail makes it even better.
