I'm not familiar with that usage of 'indexing'... what does it mean? Do you mean the step-size modulation in a gradient descent procedure?

Yep I read that.
anyway, there is also epsilon parameter to play with ( exploration / exploitation ) in addition to time step, because project management is by definition domain free, and so requires some learning en route.
