I think this vegetarian Chinese restaurant we got takeout from in San Gabriel valley must be really authentic. They didn’t give us fortune cookies. Unless they forgot 🤔
The food is very good, but I’ll admit I’m missing the fortune cookies and fortunes.

Little further out is a vegan Vietnamese place called Veggie Life that will destroy a cultured meat VC’s ambitions. Way beyond pho and cha gio.
It’s in a cluster — two others nearby on Garvey that I can’t vouch for.

The fortune cookie is so widespread now that authentic places will give them out too.

They’ve gone digital on fortune cookies, did you not hear?

Reminds me of this place when I lived in Nottingham. It was down a little alley under a gazebo, IIRC. We were the only white people and there wasn't an English menu. Every other table was smoking. The place was called 'Nosh'. No fortune cookies but they did have sea cucumber.
