Hence, “the more you want to do the less you should talk about it, the less you want to do, the more you should talk” That’s the rule for highly adversarial zero-sum environments for your intentions.

This feels like a basic idea populist movements in the developed world kinda don’t get. They label, tag, package, and brand everything they do. It’s all signals and symbols. The only 2 reasons to do that: you’re stupid or you’re out to grift your own side. Both are common.

Actually there’s a third reason: you don’t get modern total war and are operating with medieval pitched battles with rallying flags and banners etc as your default mental model. Because that’s an easier mental model to grok and you can learn it from movies and sports.

I thought maybe people understood some fancy pomo insights into semiotics of memes or whatever that I didn’t. I was giving them too much credit. It’s as simple as not getting that a symbol that attracts a friend is also inevitably a target a foe can aim at.

Okay fourth reason: you actually don’t care to be effective because you’re not really exposed to any downside risk. So cheap signal theater is the end in itself. If it works, you win. If it diesnt, you lose nothing. If you’re targeted by it, you aband9n the position and move on.
