For a Westerner, this is the tension between Eastern and Western versions of Enlightenment.
We all want to be not unhappy. We can either discover unhappiness is an illusion, or discover how to fix unhappiness.

Okay, yeah. I meant E/W in terms of dominant philosophy. The tension is that both exist simultaneously and I think I'm wondering if this framework helps map the dimension they're on.

It’s a good bunnytrail. I’m not sure the perceived dominance is real. Bollywood is almost as old as Hollywood and makes more movies.
Even in the philosophy, I don’t think any western philosophy argues “chase illusions.”
Each philosophy is based on the idea the other philosophy's focus is the illusion?
