This has nothing to do with how much wisdom they have. It's because the same advice that works great for a single 20-something simply doesn't apply when you have half the time, sleep, bandwidth, and risk tolerance
Tiago’s gone full trad. You and I are demoted to non-people now. Next he’ll be like only trust churchgoing, home-owning types who pay taxes and fly 🇺🇸 on porch.
Haha - I'm not sure you're kidding about this sensibility more generally. So many people tend to define everything in relation to their kids (politics, etc.), but it freaks me out that they needed children to start caring about other people. (Not talking about all of them)
I’m not kidding. It’s turned into one of the standard meaning-making scripts of 2021. 😆
There is an apparent asymmetry. Parents were non-parent adults at one time so they assume they understand child-free states, but that the child free cannot possibly understand parenthood.
That assumed asymmetry is not really worth challenging. I for one have always tuned out parental perspectives the same way I tune out religious ones. It’s there and it impacts the world, but is not really open to thesis —> antithesis —> synthesis dialectic anymore. Hard fork.
