My friends’ risk tolerance (sports, investing, romance, etc) is so brokenly high I’ve completely forgotten what’s normal I’ve heard multiple that feel embarrassingly conservative having only 1/3rd their total capital in a single asset that changes 5%+ a day

What about your friends that put just 2% of their net worth in crypto but back in 2016 and then didn't sell because they didn't want to deal with taxes and then in 2021 that's suddenly 30% of their net worth and they're like "oh well" 🤷

You can’t really rationally manage a portfolio with such a volatile asset in it. A 30% today would have been more like 3% last year. And might be back there next year. It’s not really risk tolerance. It’s more like play money you’re not that attached to till you sell.
