Trying to learn Python yet again. Maybe 4th time is the charm now that v2 to v3 bs seems sorted out. Anaconda environment looks reassuringly like Matlab. But this package manager layer between shell and the IDE is an abstraction layer I'm just not used to. It's rather alarming.

I stopped programming too long ago to be native-familiar with package managers or cloud stuff. I feel very nervously at home between machine code to shell layers, and within IDEs. This package management and git repo management stuff I've never gotten truly comfy with.

Also, I find I'm just not physically used to (in UX terms) what appears to be the minimum modern programming UX... 2 screens, browsers open on one, a terminal and an IDE in another, and probably some shady cloud and package manager shit open in a couple of other terminals?

I’d be happy to pair with you for a few hours, try a few things out and see how to get you comfortable with a sustainable workflow.
