Would it be fair to say that science fiction 1940-80 was much more ideational/conceptual and 1980-2020 much more sensory/atmospheric?
The former left me with thoughts, and remembered plots. The latter mostly with feelings and remembered moods

Hey I’m not *that* old. Published. I was 6 in 1980, so all my actual reading is 80s and later.

Possibly! I feel like high concepts are maybe harder to execute now because they feel kind of ungraspable? More complex? Thinking about atomic age SF vs... what would it be now lol dark matter age? The Unknowable age?
