vgr they're not problems if you don't care. they're events. that's why we have the word "problem" is for this distinction

In my story 2 tweets above, the problem is that there’s a bomb under the chair of the character, but the problem is a story event that creates time (between now and it being defused or going off) only if you care about the character’s fate.

hm. maybe. tho I think most people in the world don't think "having to go to the fridge to get food" is a problem. being hungry and having food is not a problem. being hungry and not having food is a problem, which is why it would be an interesting story

You’re basically specializing “problem” to mean “interesting non-trivial problem.” I am hungry and don’t have food because I’m on the couch rather than by the fridge holding a candidate thing to eat. If you were programming robots for this, this would be an awfully hard problem.
