Since we have Disney+ now I’m watching some old Mickey and Donald type stuff from when I was a kid. Some of the Donald Duck vs Chip ‘n Dale shorts are really good.

I really especially appreciate the physicality of it. In the one I just watched, chip and dale discover that popped corn tastes good and steal donald’s popcorn. The whole short is gags built around the properties of popcorn. It’s like prop comedy without limits.

How do you even write such stories, or storyboard them? There’s basically no dialogue, just occassional language-like exclamations. It’s almost a silent film except for laughs and chuckles and angry screams etc.

I had this experience with Looney Tunes. So good. Hasn't aged at all.

My 4yo boy has never laughed so hard at a show as when he watched the 1979 Bugs Bunny film
Chuffed. A staple of my childhood
It has aged incredibly well - seems timeless. They really just dont make 'em like they used to
Why is that?

One of the greatest Disney shorts was Symphony Hour, where Mickey has to direct a petulant orchestra playing on broken instruments.
I bet they edited out this scene though
