A nice hierarchy of thinking styles by @AdamMGrant
Society needs more of the top of the pyramid to help confront BS and indifference toward truth.

Gotta appreciate the sincerity of intent behind such things, but seriously, if this is the sort of thing people are pinning their hopes on in the post-real permaweird we’re in for some serious hilarity. More likely it will turn into yet another larp like “civil debate”
It’s a timeless genre. Here’s Paul Graham earnesposting badically the same idea in 2008 when things were much tamer than today. http://paulgraham.com/disagree.html
I feel bad about ripping on the diagram, but I’ll admit I’ve not liked anything I’ve seen of Adam Grant’s work. Far too TEDdy for my tastes. I liked some bits of McCarthy’s bullshit paper though, also linked in the OT.
I agree re Grant. Find it hard to warm to it. Seems self-referential and simplistic and just a bit too happy with its own cleverness. The world doesn't fit so snugly into such pigeonholes.
I‘ve started reading his latest book and felt the same. But it’s hard to stand your ground if a whole marketing machinery and a network of highly visible individuals argue that it’s the best thing since sliced bread. Feels a bit like being in the Asch conformity experiments.
