I agree 100% w/ their critique of execrable Musk but the argument sets up a false dichotomy, that $$ spent on Mars could be used for urgent problems on Earth. We can actually easily do both. Instead, we should reduce the trillions & trillions we spend on war, policing, and empire

Yeah. That's where I stand. Do I want to see reprioritization of money being directed towards the DoD and policing? Sure. Would I also cut the historical funding of NASA (which started as a shit-fight with the USSR)? Also yes.

I really don't like when space nerds point to DoD, though. It allows them to dodge the heart of the debate.
I would also massively change our agricultural spending. There's waste all over the place.
But that's besides the point.
