Sitting is not the new smoking. It’s a lousy analogy. We’re designed for it. 8 hours is probably bad, but the optimal amount is not 0.
We like it too much and will never stop. Even animals sit around a lot. Ape troops for eg. If sitting is smoking my cat is a chain smoker.

Our default rest position without chairs is a a deep squat that is much better for our glutes. Squat more.

There's some evidence from paleoanthropology these claims are overblown. People in hunter gatherer societies sit just as much as we do and are much healthier. npr.org/sections/healt

I like the sitting bros:
"You are sitting wrong, my man! You need to engage your glutes for a fully active sit."

This neglects a major point - everyone likes reclining but sitting
1. In a chair
2. For 8+ hours
Is bad for you and demonstrably so.
Kelly Starrett addresses this in his book Deskbound
