Randomly freaked myself out by thinking how a few decades after we are dead, everything we’ve ever experienced will be only comprehensible in a historical way. The way we comprehend say 1821. Living memory is only living for a while. Then it’s dead.

Been thinking about how it would be nice to communicate private truths to future generations so that they can have a better understanding of human nature. It's not feasible for most people to be nakedly honest during their own time but it's sad that their insights die with them.

I think of it like declassifying information. That info might ruin relationships, projects, etc of contemporaries but in 50 years, the benefit to society/understanding outweighs secrecy. Not everyone is comfortable with the ramifications of being honest in their own time.

Related to that idea, I feel like we get an unbalanced perspective from tell-all type books, reality shows, etc. Those stories are told by people who are comfortable telling those stories. But I also wonder what people who are not comfortable telling those stories are thinking.
