Robert McKee is the Antoine Jomini of storytelling. No notion of strategic intuition informs the theory. It’s pure tactical prowess extrapolated to strategy via brute-force structural scaffolding. Is there a storytelling Clausewitz or Boyd?

I own that. It's better than McKee, but it still doesn't hit the sweet spot I'm thinking of. The Campbell structural framework is sort of "strategy aware" but not itself about narrative strategy. Just about a structure that's good at carrying it.

Yes. To be honest the majority of books on storytelling and narrative strategy lack true experiential wisdom. You might be better exploring the work and lived experience of Wolf Milk by Dr Martin Shaw
